SETTING THE RIGHT PRIORITIES

Priority means something to which we give precedence because of its urgency or importance. To prioritize means to arrange in order of importance.
Success in life is determined among other things by how we set out the right priorities. Today is a landmark event in your life because the dream you prioritized six years ago has materialized. We should often ask ourselves; what is, really, the most important thing to me in life?

Where do our most important values and interests lie? Because life is about purpose, destination and fulfillment.
Our greatest example, the Lord Jesus, defined His values from the outset and He called it His “Father’s business”. On another occasion He said "...my meat is to do the will…" (John 4:34)
Priorities are pre-decisions we make in advance as to what we will give ourselves to or make necessary in life.
Priority is history written in advance; it is what we become because of the price we were willing to pay from the outset. It is the reward of delayed gratification.

Priority is the essence and commitment you are willing to give your future.
Priority is the grid that helps us determine and distinguish opportunities from distractions.
No man can do everything; choices have to be made about how we invest our time and resources.
In warfare, when there are battles and soldiers become vulnerable to attacks, triage is a military technique that is employed for treating the wounded:
-           those who will die no matter what you do;
-           those who will live even if the treatment is delayed; and
-           those who will live if only given immediate treatment.
Only those who live for purpose can survive in the time of triage.
We need to also ask ourselves:
-           who or what cannot live without you or you without them?
How come sometimes give our all to those who care the least about us than those who care the most? Why will a youngster give the most of his passion to things that least matter or least crucial to success.
Premarital Sex, Internet Addiction, Material Rat Race.
Why do we trivialize the crucial and essentials to the detriment of our future? This is why we must decide in advance what our priorities are. Everyone of us must learn to spend our time on what we do best and what we do to better our best and not on vision killers.
Also, just because we do it well does not mean we are investing our time and life in a venture that deserves our efforts. We must make judicious use of our skills, talents and time. We have to live for the future. Where do you see yourself in 3, 5, 10 years from now? How well have you learnt to distinguish between opportunities and distractions?
We must learn to exclude or include what is important and spend more time to focus on what is priority. Let us separate between what is pleasing to our lusts and what God has in stock for our future.
AREAS OF TOP PRIORITY:
1.   Relationship with God.            Matt. 22:37; Deut.6:4
2.   Personal knowledge of the Word or (the Will of God) testament  Jos. 1:8; Prov. 4:20-22
3.   Determination to make right choices and commitment to integrity, honesty and hard-work.
4.   Love for those who care about you; live for people; relationship     2 Sam. 9
5.   Your finances.
6.   Right attitude for great altitude (Obama-election)
Where lies your priority today? (one sticker said "don’t follow me i am lost too")
